For smiles with more than one thing to fix

Crowns, bridges and veneers are chosen tooth by tooth, then designed as one smile. Whitening and gum contouring join the plan when needed.

  1. Many failing teeth

Old fillings and crowns breaking one after another.

  2. Broken or cracked teeth

Teeth too damaged for a veneer are rebuilt with a crown.

  3. Whitening and gum contouring

Whitening first so the porcelain is matched to your final shade; the gum line evened to frame the teeth.

  4. Old dental work

Dark metal margins and mismatched colors replaced in one plan.

  5. Worn-down teeth

Years of grinding have shortened your teeth and aged your face.

The terms, explained

Veneer, crown, bridge: what each one is

Every plan is written with these words. Here is what each piece does, so your estimate reads like plain English.

  • Illustration of a thin porcelain veneer being placed on the front of a tooth

    Veneer

A thin porcelain shell bonded to the front of a tooth to change its color, shape and length. Only about 0.3 mm of the tooth is prepared, so it stays almost intact.

  • Illustration of a full porcelain crown about to seat over a prepared molar

    Crown

A porcelain cap that covers the whole tooth. For teeth that are broken, heavily filled or root-canaled and need strength as well as looks.

  • Illustration of a three-quarter crown covering three walls of a premolar

    3/4 crown

A partial crown that covers three of the tooth's four walls and leaves the healthy side untouched. Less tooth reduction than a full crown.

  • Illustration of a three-unit dental bridge over a missing tooth

    Bridge

One or more replacement teeth held by crowns on the neighbouring teeth. Closes a gap without surgery.

  • Illustration of a dental implant post in the bone with a crown on top

    Implant crown

A titanium post placed in the bone with a porcelain crown on top. Replaces a missing tooth, root and all.

  • Illustration of a full arch of fixed teeth on four implants

    All-on-X arch

A full row of fixed teeth on four to six implants per jaw. Replaces every tooth in the arch at once.

Why restore here

Every restoration designed, matched and delivered together.

Most clinics rebuild teeth one appointment at a time. Our lab is in the building, so crowns, bridges and veneers are designed as one smile, shade-matched in person and delivered in the same week.

The material

German zirconia, finished by hand

A smile makeover mixes veneers and crowns in the same row of teeth. Zirconia lets both be thin, matched in one shade and finished at the gum line, so the crowns do not give themselves away next to the veneers. Every veneer, crown and bridge we make is zirconia milled from German-made discs and finished by our ceramist in the same building as your doctor. Three things that changes:

A multilayer zirconia disc on its edge showing five bands from warm ivory to translucent white, next to a single-shade lithium disilicate ingot and a thin translucent wafer
The color

Built into the material, not painted on

Our discs come with five layers of shade: warmer at the gum, more translucent toward the edge. On front teeth the ceramist adds surface texture and enamel effects by hand, on top of a gradient that is already there.

The edge

Finished at the gum line, not under it

Zirconia does not discolor, so the edge can sit where it is visible, cleaned and sealed. The fibers that attach your gum to the tooth stay intact, which is what keeps gum and bone where they are.

A ceramist's gloved hands refining the edge of a zirconia crown with a fine polishing bur under a bench magnifier
The fit

Seated and sealed by hand

Milled crowns rarely fit straight off the machine. Each one is adjusted under magnification with fine burs until it seats without pressure, then the margin is polished into a closed seal that keeps bacteria out.

  • Strength2×About twice the strength of conventional porcelain. Takes back teeth and grinders.

Zirconia vs lithium disilicate (e.max)

Zirconia at Xiluet SmilesLithium disilicate (e.max)
StrengthAbout 1,000 to 1,200 MPa. Takes the bite of back teeth and grinders.About 470 MPa, the manufacturer's figure. Chips more often under heavy load and in bridges.
Crowns: tooth removed0.5 mm walls, so less of your tooth is cut away.1.0 mm walls with adhesive cementation. More reduction.
Veneers: tooth removed0.3 mm, and on some teeth none.0.3 mm is possible; most labs ask for 0.5 to 0.7 mm.
Where the edge sitsAt the gum line, where it can be seen, cleaned and kept sealed. The gum attachment and bone underneath are left alone.Often placed under the gum to hide the cement line. Edges under the gum are linked to inflammation, recession and bone loss over time.
Shade and translucencyFive layers built into the disc: warmer at the gum, more translucent toward the edge. The gradient is in the material itself.A single-shade block. Translucency at the edge has to be cut back and added by hand as an extra layer, one more step and one more interface that can chip.
Color over timeDoes not stain or change shade. The porcelain is stable; the bonded edge can pick up stain over the years.
Expected lifespanDesigned for 20 years. 5-year written warranty.10 to 15 years is typical; chipping is the usual reason for replacement.

Strength figures are the manufacturers' biaxial flexural values for 3Y zirconia and IPS e.max; thickness minimums are the manufacturers' published guidance. How long any restoration lasts depends on bite, gum health and care. Our warranty terms are written into every plan.

Veneers

Zirconia veneers vs e.max veneers: the real truth

Zirconia is two to three times stronger, keeps more tooth under a crown and holds its edge at the gum line. Where e.max is still the honest choice.

Makeover questions, answered by the doctors

Crown, bridge or veneer: who decides?

Your doctor, tooth by tooth, at Visit 1. A veneer covers the front of a healthy tooth; a crown rebuilds a broken or heavily filled one; a bridge replaces a missing tooth using the neighbors. You confirm the plan before any preparation.

Dr. Marta Puentes Marrero, DMD

Is it painful?

Preparation is done under local anesthesia. Expect soreness for a few days, managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

Dr. Marta Puentes Marrero, DMD

Does whitening affect the veneers?

Porcelain does not whiten, which is why we whiten first and match the veneers and crowns to the result.

Dr. Gretell Alonso Fiel, DMD

Is gum contouring painful?

Done under local anesthesia. Expect mild tenderness for a few days.

Dr. Marta Puentes Marrero, DMD

Does insurance cover it?

Crowns and bridges are often classed as major restorative work and may be covered 50 to 80 percent depending on your plan. We give you the codes for your claim.

Dr. Roger Ramos Navarro, DMD

How long will it last?

Porcelain and zirconia restorations typically last 10 to 30 years with good care. Ours carry a 5-year written warranty.

Dr. Gretell Alonso Fiel, DMD

Can it be done in 3 days?

Yes. Rush delivery in 3 business days is $10,000 instead of $6,999, because the lab works on your case exclusively. Most patients choose the standard 5-day schedule.

Dr. Roger Ramos Navarro, DMD

Can crooked teeth be included?

Mild crowding is handled by the veneers and crowns. Severe misalignment needs aligners first, which adds months to the plan.
